In 1954 Coco Chanel designed the jacket that later became the Jacket par excellence. She has been inspired by masculine blazer but she decided to make it shorter, in tweed, with two buttons and frayed cuffs.
After more than 50 years this Jacket still represents elegance and femininity and it's always in vogue thanks to its simple and tasteful cut. Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld pay homage to this iconic jacket with a book of photographs and an exhibit in Tokyo from March 24th till April 15. Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of the French Maison, enhances this chic item through a hundred of pics of famous people,all wearing Coco's masterpiece. Very well done! J.S.
