The story of Algie, the Pink Floyd pig

The Battersea Power Station became famous to be the cover image of the Pink Floyd album "Animals". But there's something more about this picture. It was the first appearence of Algie. I'm talking about the flying pig balloon that became one of the band's symbols. Algie had a really troubled life. The balloon had to appear on the cover image. It was inflated with helium and manoeuvred into position. But the balloon broke free of its moorings and disappeared from view. It eventually landed in Kent and was recovered by a local farmer, who was apparently furious that it had "scared his cows"! Poor Algie! 

La centrale elettrica di Battersea divenne famosa per essere la copertina dell'album "Animals" dei Pink Floyd. Ma questo non è tutto. E' qui che è avvenuta la prima apparizione di Algie. Sto parlando del maiale volante che divenne uno dei simboli della band. Algie ha avuto un'esistenza davvero problematica. Il pallone aerostatico doveva apparire in copertina. Fu gonfiato con elio e messo in posizione, ma il pallone ruppe gli ormeggi e scomparve. Alla fine atterrò nel Kent e fu ritrovato da un contadino del luogo, apparentemente arrabbiato perchè Algie aveva spaventato le sue mucche! Povero Algie! 

London Fashion Weekend

Today I was at the Somerset House to take part to the London Fashion Weekend. The location was lovely. (The Somerset House is  a cultural centre in the heart of the city.) I really enjoyed the event, especially the fashion show. I really had a good time, taking photos and looking at the models on the catwalk. It was great! The photos speak from themselves :) J.S.

Oggi sono stata alla Somerset House per partecipare alla London Fashion Weekend. La location era splendida. (La Somerset House è un centro culturale e artistico nel cuore della città.) L'evento mi è piaciuto moltissimo, in particolare ho apprezzato molto la sfilata. Mi sono divertita un sacco a scattare foto e guardare le modelle sfilare in passerella. E' stato fantastico! Le foto parlano da sole :) J.S.

The double-faced Brick Lane

Sunday morning we went to Brick Lane to take a look to the vintage market. Well guys...It was amazing! It was full of crazy jumpers, leather bags, handmade accessories..I couldn't believe my eyes! I was totally freaking out! It's the perfect place where you can buy quality vintage clothes for a bargain price. I've bought an eccentric jumper for 25£! There was smell of curry everywhere, because the street is crammed of restaurants and stalls that sell curry dishes. However you should know that Brick Lane has a dark side...Yep. We went there last friday night because we found out a nice indie club. The atmosphere was really trashy. The street was overcrowded, full of drunkards and empty bottles. I was a little bit scared when we left the place because if the main street was crowded, the side streets were deserted! It's really weird how a place can change between night and day! Enjoy the photos J.S.

Domenica mattina siamo stati a Brick Lane per dare un'occhiata al mercato del vintage..E' stato fantastico!! Era pieno di maglioni eccentrici, borse in pelle e accessori fatti a mano.. Non riuscivo a credere ai miei occhi! Stavo letteralmente dando di matto! E' il posto perfetto dove si possono comprare vestiti vintage di qualità ad un prezzo ridotto. Ho comprato un maglione davvero stravagante per 25£!! C'era odore di curry dappertutto: la strada è strapiena di ristoranti e stand che vendono pietanze al curry. Tuttavia dovete sapere che Brick Lane ha un lato nascosto..Infatti, lo scorso venerdì sera siamo andati lì dopo aver scoperto un club indie molto carino. Ma l'atmosfera era veramente trash. La strada era sovraffollata, piena di gente ubriaca e bottiglie vuote. Ero un po' spaventata quando siamo andati via perchè se la strada principale era piena di gente, le traverse erano desolate! E' davvero strano il modo in cui un posto può cambiare dal giorno alla notte! Enjoy the photos J.S.
